Farm Worker

The Farm worker provides overall labor and support to all farm operations. At Southeastern Integrated Care, our farm operations include workforce development and sustainability opportunities for people in recovery. Our farm workers will often work alongside people in recovery, assisting them with the skills necessary to be a successful worker. Farm workers support the vision, mission, and purpose of Southeastern Integrated Care. A farm worker is part of the professional team of Southeastern Integrated Care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Crop cultivation: Farm Workers prepare and maintain the land for planting crops. This includes plowing, fertilizing, and watering the fields. They also monitor and control pests and diseases that may affect the crops. Farm worker need to have knowledge of different types of crops, planting techniques, and soil conditions.
• Livestock care: Farm workers are responsible for feeding, watering, and providing proper shelter for the animals. Farm worker also monitor the health of the animals, administer vaccinations, and ensure their overall well-being.
• Harvesting: Farm workers will know when crops are ready for harvesting. Use of different tools and machinery to harvest crops efficiently and safely Farm Worker will handle and store harvested crops properly to prevent spoilage.
• Equipment maintenance: Farm worker are responsible for assisting in maintaining and repairing farming equipment and machinery. This includes tractors, harvesters, irrigation systems, and other tools necessary for farming operations.
• Record keeping: Farm worker maintain records of their activities as requested by their supervisor This helps them analyze their operations, make informed decisions, and comply with government regulations.
• Marketing and sales: Farm worker may also be involved in marketing and selling their produce or livestock. This can include selling directly to consumers at farm worker markets or working with wholesalers and distributors.
• Environmental stewardship: Farm worker play a vital role in environmental conservation. They implement sustainable farming practices to minimize the impact on natural resources, promote soil health, and preserve biodiversity.
• Business management: Farm worker need to have good business management skills. Assist with planning and budgeting for their operations, negotiate prices with buyers, and stay updated on market trends and regulations.
• Overall, farm workers requires physical stamina, problem-solving skills, and a passion for working with nature. It is a rewarding career that provides essential food and contributes to the agricultural industry
• Works alongside Southeastern Integrated Care clients to assist them in workforce development and skills needed to be a successful worker.
• Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not oversee staff.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • High School Diploma, some college preferred and experience within the agriculture, farming industry or a related;
• Two years of farming or agricultural experience in the medical or behavioral health field preferred;
• A combination of education and experience may be acceptable;

The work is typically performed in an office environment, with a moderate noise level.

Physical Demands:

• Movements including but not limited to prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching are required.
• Regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; talk; see; and/or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at all times.
